Most people looking for a replacement seat or part do not know the brand, let alone the model number. That is completely normal, and it is exactly why we built GetAllSpares. In most cases, a few photos and measurements give us enough clues to find the right match. Here is what to look for.
Step 1: Look for a brand name or code
Manufacturers often mark their products in places you would not normally look. Check:
- The underside of the seat and the lid.
- The hinge covers or the hinges themselves.
- The back or base of the toilet pan.
- Inside the cistern, on the underside of the lid or on the inner wall.
Even a partial logo or a few characters of a code can narrow things down a lot.
Step 2: Take the right photos
Good photos are often more useful than a model number. Take these four:
- From above: the whole pan, with the seat lifted, taken from directly overhead.
- The hinges: a close-up of both hinges and how they are fixed.
- The side: a side view of the pan and seat.
- Any labels: a clear shot of any logo, sticker or code you found.
Step 3: Measure the pan
Note the length, width and the distance between the fixing holes. Our guide on how to measure a toilet seat explains exactly where to measure.
Step 4: Note how it is fitted and what it is made of
- Is it top fix (tightened from above) or bottom fix (nuts underneath the pan)?
- Does the seat close slowly on its own (soft-close), or drop freely?
- Does it feel hard and heavy (likely UF) or light and slightly flexible (likely PP)? Our UF vs PP guide explains the difference.
What we do with your details
A real person on our team reviews every enquiry. We compare your photos and measurements against known models, brands and common compatible alternatives, then come back to you with suitable options: the original manufacturer part if it is available, a compatible replacement, or an alternative material.
Send us what you have
You do not need every detail. Share whatever you know through our Find My Spare form, add your photos, and we will take it from there. Customers in India can also browse ready-to-order seats and fittings at GetAllSpares India.
